Maritza Gonzalez

Maritza Gonzalez, 51, died on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a brief illness.

Born in Manhattan, New York, daughter of the late Ismael Gonzalez and Luz (Roldan) Gonzalez, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

In her free time, Maritza enjoyed travelling, organizing parties, and writing journals. She was also very fond of cats. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Maritza is survived by her son, Yamir Gonzalez; her daughter, Shakira Torres Gonzalez; and her sister, Jannette Gonzalez.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Paola Torres.
